I’ve planned, organised and controlled more sprint orienteering maps than I can recall – more than I’ve run in even. And I’ve mapped fairly extensive areas of ISSOM. This doesn’t make me an expert, but it does mean I’ve seen plenty of places things can go wrong.
I gave a presentation to the BOF major events conference in 2012 about planning and organising sprint races. There’s a good guideline on basic requirements, so this is more a collection of tips, observations and anecdote.
